What to Pack for Italy

Knowing what to bring to Italy is essential for your journey to be more comfortable, efficient, and stress-free. Below is a practical guide to help you prepare for your time in Italy and beyond.

Luggage Guidelines

Limit yourself to two pieces:
• One large checked bag (stored in the coach)
• One smaller carry-on (overhead or under seat)

Add luggage tags with your contact details and place one inside your bag as backup.

Pack a collapsible bag for souvenirs and items collected along the journey.

Comfort for the Flight

Long-haul flights can be cold and tiring. Prepare with:

• Layers for temperature changes
• Loose, comfortable clothing with pockets
• Neck pillow, eye mask, or headphones
• Compression socks and regular movement
• Wear Slip-on, comfy shoes (May considers slippers while on the plane)
• Water bottle and light snacks
• Sanitizing wipes for surfaces

Clothing for Venice in July

July in Venice is typically warm, sunny, and humid, with daytime temperatures often ranging between 80°F–90°F (27°C–32°C). Expect plenty of walking, bridges, cobblestone streets, and occasional summer rain showers.

• Footwear: Venice is a city best explored on foot. You’ll be crossing countless bridges, navigating stone walkways, and walking long distances. Bring sturdy, comfortable walking shoes and consider packing a second pair for rotation.

• Lightweight, breathable clothing: Choose fabrics such as cotton, linen, or moisture-wicking materials to stay comfortable in the summer heat.

• Sun protection: Pack a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen. Much of Venice’s sightseeing takes place outdoors with limited shade.

• Light layers: Air conditioning can vary in hotels, museums, and restaurants. A lightweight cardigan, shawl, or long-sleeve layer can be useful in the evenings.

• Rain protection: Summer thunderstorms can appear unexpectedly. A compact umbrella or lightweight rain jacket is recommended.

• Comfortable shorts, skirts, dresses, or lightweight pants: Opt for clothing that keeps you cool while remaining comfortable for extended walking.

• One slightly dressier outfit: Italians tend to dress stylishly, especially in the evenings. Consider bringing a nicer outfit for special dinners, events, or nights out in Venice.

• Modest attire for churches and religious sites: Some churches and cathedrals require shoulders and knees to be covered. A lightweight scarf or shawl can be useful when visiting these locations.

Packing Tip: Use packing cubes or compression bags to maximize suitcase space and keep your belongings organized throughout the journey.

Electronics & Accessories

• European power adapter (Type C & E, 220V)
Italy uses a Type C plug with two rounded pins — Type E plugs also work in these sockets, for 220 Volts.

Consider getting a CONVERTER instead of an ADAPTER, precautionary for burning out your electronics. Use a surge protector for laptops or other expensive appliances.
