Winter in the Alps does not apologize for its darkness. It embraces it.
In Austria, we stepped directly into the ancient heart of winter folklore. Krampusnacht is not a performance — it is a living tradition. Masks carved by hand. Bells that shake the chest. Fire reflecting off horn and fur. Fear giving way to laughter, and laughter giving way to awe.
What surprised many travelers wasn’t the intensity — it was the warmth. The sense of community. The way fear dissolved into shared joy as villagers and visitors moved together through the night.
This was a journey that reminded us: shadow is not something to flee. It is something to understand.
Romania — Dracula’s Vampire Ball & Beyond
Legend made tangible
There are moments when fantasy steps out of the page and into the body.
Standing inside Bran Castle, dressed in velvet and candlelight, the line between myth and history blurred. Dracula, here, is not a caricature — but a lens through which we explore power, fear, survival, and transformation.
Beyond the ball, Romania offered medieval towns, sacred landscapes, and quiet moments that grounded the spectacle in something real. What began as enchantment became reverence.
