Dustin Pari Interview: Spirituality & the Paranormal

Dustin Pari Interview: Spirituality & the Paranormal

For more than three decades, Dustin Pari has explored the unseen world — not just as a paranormal investigator, but as a spiritual seeker, motivational speaker, author, and devoted family man. Known globally for his work on Ghost Hunters International, Dustin’s journey spans six continents and countless encounters that blur the line between this world and the next.

Yet what stands out most is not the investigations themselves — it is the intention behind them. Beneath the phenomena, beneath the travel, beneath the mystery, lies a deeper pursuit: purpose, perspective, and spiritual alignment.

Paranormal research, in Dustin’s experience, is not about spectacle. It is about focus. It is about growth. It is about remembering who we are beneath the noise of the material world.

In this conversation, Dustin shares reflections on:

  • The spiritual lessons behind paranormal research
  • How adjusting your focus can change your life
  • Why materialism disconnects us from our true nature
  • What it truly means to be a spiritual being having a human experience

Whether you are curious about the paranormal or seeking deeper meaning in your travels, this dialogue invites you to look beyond fear — and toward understanding.

  1. You wear many hats – father, husband, motivational speaker, spiritual researcher, and author. Can you share with us how each role contributes to shaping who you are and the work you do?

I keep busy in my personal life by spending time with my family and working my day job in healthcare. Everything I do is for my wife and daughter. Working as an anesthesia assistant for oral surgery allows me to provide for my family while I am helping people at the office.
My work in the paranormal has led me further down the path of spiritual research. Having had the opportunity to travel the world as a part of the Ghost Hunters International program, I was able to immerse myself in various cultures for weeks at a time. I used those precious moments to learn more about their religious understandings and spiritual customs.
Having had such adventures across 6 continents, I took the time to document my travels, my thoughts, and my ideas in effort to bring my unique perspective on all things spiritual, paranormal, and motivational to my readers.
As a motivational speaker I get to really connect with people and help them find ways forward in this human experience. This is truly my favorite part of what I do. I am very thankful to have such blessed opportunities to assist others.

His answer sets the tone: investigation as service, travel as study, and spirituality as lived practice — not theory.

  1. Your bio on Facebook mentions that you’re a lover of God and pie. Can you tell us more about how spirituality and the simple pleasures in life influence your worldview and your approach to your work? And perhaps even what your favorite flavor of pie is lol!

Being mindful of one’s place in this world is very important. As spirits moving through a human experience- not being from here and not staying here, well- sometimes it’s very difficult for us just to get through the day.I have found that through a regimented practice of training our brain to look for the silver lining, to seek out the positive amongst the negative, we can move forward in living a fuller, happier, and more spiritually fulfilled life.Taking joy in some of the littlest things in this life make a big difference. Appreciating what the clouds look like, feeling the rich texture of tree bark, the taste a healthy slice of pumpkin pie covered in whipped cream- these small things add up and result in a happier experience.

There is something grounding in this — the reminder that spirituality is not abstract. It is found in attention. In gratitude. In the ordinary moments we often rush past.

3. As a motivational speaker, you have the opportunity to inspire and uplift others. What messages or themes do you often find yourself sharing with your audience, and why are they important to you?

A large part of my motivational lectures revolve around our ability to adjust our focus. Each day we are presented with the opportunity to look at each unique situation as positive or negative. We can choose to be thankful. We can choose to be angry. We are more powerful than we have been conditioned to believe- and unlocking our potential starts with adjusting our focus.

It is a theme that repeats throughout our conversation: perspective is power.

  1. Your work as a spiritual researcher delves into the mysteries of the unknown. What draws you to explore these realms, and what discoveries or insights have had the greatest impact on you personally?

As spiritual beings we all must answer that call for more. We hear it in our souls in the quiet times. We feel it in our very essence. One of the reasons so many people are unhappy in this life is because this world is just our island home. Again, we are not from here and we do not stay here. This is why we often feel that we do not fit here- as if things here are somehow wrong. We have been trained to look at, appreciate, pursue, and even worship the material things of this world- but we were not designed to be plastic people bowing at the altar of consumerism and worshiping the idols of technology- yet, that is where many find themselves today.Having worked in the field of paranormal research for over 30 years it has become much more of a spiritual quest for me. With each spirit interaction I have had, I draw closer and closer to the other side- and I feel more and more at home.

Here, the paranormal becomes something quieter and more profound — not proof of ghosts, but evidence of continuity.

  1. You’re also an author, sharing your knowledge and experiences with a wider audience. Can you tell us about your writing process and the topics you’re most passionate about exploring in your books?

I love writing. My mind is always going- thinking about more ideas that I can further mine, develop, and share with the world. I have notebooks full of ideas. I have a pile of post-it notes with book concepts in my desk drawer. My phone is wasteland of bits of this and that which I have written down but yet to use. When I finally focus upon something that I want to commit to developing further, I find I write best in a notebook whilst on planes. I travel a lot and so it gives me ample time to put pen to paper and create something new without distraction. Breathing life into that which did not exist just moments before excites me.

Creation, like investigation, begins in quiet space.

  1. Family seems to be an important part of your life. How do you balance your professional pursuits with your responsibilities as a father and husband, and what lessons have you learned from these roles?

My family always has and always will come first. There is sacrifice in having to travel so often for work, but these opportunities not only help me to provide for my family, but in these travels I have learned a lot about myself. Though always evolving, I am comfortable with who I truly am at my core. I know the things that are truly important to me in comparison to the things which I can just let slide. These lessons have helped me to become more focused- to become a better man, husband, and father.

The unseen work, it seems, begins at home.

  1. Lastly, what message or piece of wisdom would you like to share with those who are just beginning to explore spirituality or the paranormal, and how can they connect with you to learn more about your work?

We all move at our own pace. We live. We grow. We make mistakes. We fall. We get up. We make more mistakes. We learn. We try again. Our spiritual growth in this life is important, but there’s nothing more important than understanding that we are all on our own unique journeys. Be careful not to compare your current situation with that of someone else. Never look at the highlight reel of someone’s social media page and feel bad about yourself if you think you don’t measure up.You are on your own path and are moving along that path in your own time. Enjoy the journey. Appreciate the good along with the bad. Adjust your focus. Move forward- and always help others along the road.

Conclusion

At its heart, Dustin’s message is both simple and demanding: adjust your focus, honor your path, and remember that we are more than what we accumulate — we are what we become.

As he describes it, paranormal exploration is not about chasing fear. It is about seeking understanding. It is about listening to history, to spirit, and to ourselves.

This philosophy mirrors the intention behind our Paris to the Rhône journey, where ancient cathedrals, Roman ruins, medieval cities, and layered spiritual histories unfold along one of Europe’s most storied rivers. Travel, at its best, becomes less about proving something — and more about perceiving differently.
