Welcome to the Cajun Mysteries of Southern Louisiana
Immerse yourself into the Cajun Sauce of the Supernatural
When you arrive at New Orleans International Airport, you will be transported to a world that rebels against the pulse of the big city. Here, in its authentic Cajun Country, the secrets that are muffled by NOLA’s intense tourism will be urging your attention. Prepare to be taken to the REAL and unsettling mysteries of Louisiana’s deep south.Our first stop is drenched with history.
The Destrehan Plantation is one of the oldest surviving antebellum plantations in the Lower Mississippi Valley. It was established in 1787 and played a prominent role in the history of the region, particularly during the era of slavery and the American Civil War. The plantation's historical significance and the events that transpired there contribute to its mystique. Here, we will hear the story of “The Little Angel”, a spirit of a young girl that is said to still roam its rooms.Shortly, after checking into our spectacular antebellum inn, The Fairfax House, we will relax and find comfort in its charming southern hospitality.
We will take a stroll to a nearby historical icon in Franklin, and visit the Oaklawn Manor, where the phantom of Henry Clay (a dear friend to the original owner, Alexander Porter) is said to roam this beautiful plantation.Stroll around Franklin, and right after supper, we will join one of the most impressive tours in the Bayou, The Ghost Walk of Franklin as delivered by Tours by Steven.
Be certain, that this experience will contribute to your first day’s unforgettable evening, where the past and the afterlife converge in a captivating dance of history, mystery, and the supernatural. Immerse yourself in the Cajun Traditions and its Supernatural!
Our second day together in the Bayou is sure to expel you into its rich and enigmatic culture.After our first real Southern breakfast, we will embark on Captain Caviar’s Wilderness Adventure Swamp Tour.
Step aboard his mysterious swamp riverboat, taking us on a journey down the Atchafalaya River, deep into the heart of the eerie bayou. The Atchafalaya Swamp is the largest in the country, and quite possibly one of the most beautiful areas in Louisiana. But with this comes the legends from the past that resonate these dark corners. according to Cajun folklore, there’s a creature lurking in the swamps that’ll give you the creeps. Prepare to be captivated by the tales of the past, such as the Rougarou, that have left their supernatural marks on these murky waters.During the three-hour swamp excursion, to keep it intimate, our group will alternate with a visit to the Old Aviation and Sawmill Museums.
Known only to the locals, these museums are drenched with hauntings that cannot let go of their past embedded in the exhibited historical relics.In keeping with the Cajun heritage, Louisiana Spirits will graciously welcome us with an authentic Crawfish Boil on the Fairfax House estate.
This time-honored practice, passed down by Acadian settlers to Southern Louisiana, embodies the Bayou's vibrant culture, resonating through lively music, animated conversations, and camaraderie, ensuring the preservation of this remarkable land and its captivating stories. This will be (as the Cajun call) a Fais do-do time!In the heart of Louisiana, the Fairfax House, a treasured antebellum mansion, harbors spectral figures of former owners and, possibly, slaves.
Ghostly presences have been felt through their chilling whispers, shadowy corridors, and mysterious footsteps, preserving the haunting history. Tonight, after our festivities, we will investigate this property before we retire for the night.DAY 3- 🧭 March 23rd, 2024
VIP Treatment at the Inaugural Cajun Country Para Con
This morning, the Cajun Country Para Con unveils the bayou's first event to unleash the hot sauce hauntings in this unknown spectral land. Inspired by local media presence, such as “The Ghosts of Morgan City”, the stage was set to bring some of the best talents in the industry.As VIP members, you also will be treated to early entry into sessions, VIP-only lectures with headliners Dave Schraeder and Sarah Lemos, and a (rarely held) Ghost Hunt at the theatre and the Old Bayou Museum.
DAY 4- 🧭 March 24th, 2024
Leaving Cajun Country with a bit of Chili Sauce, Sugar, and NOLA!
After brushing off the excitement of last night’s incredible ParaCon and Ghost Hunt, we will check out from the enigmatic Fairfax House and start moving up towards New Orleans.
Our first stop will be at the Albania Mansion, whose majestic structure still holds those who occupied these spaces decades ago. Built between 1837 and 1842, this antebellum sugar plantation sits off the Old Spanish Trail within the Iberia Parish. As our last plantation visit of our tour, you will leave with the hope to return and explore more of these wonders.We will then go to the home of the real Tabasco enterprise, the Avery Island Museum and Gardens.
Alongside a spicey and engaging tour, you will be awed by the beauty of its gardens which will be in full Spring Glory during your visit. Secrets are abundant here, for you see, beneath the island’s surface, there are enormous underground salt mines, which date back to the Civil War era. In addition, you will discover their “Jungle Garden”, where you’ll find a hidden ancient Buddha statue. This centuries-old statue, made of marble and believed to date back to the Song or Yuan Dynasty in China, is surrounded by a serene bamboo grove, making it an unexpected and enigmatic sight in the heart of Louisiana. The intriguing combination of a spicy history, the hidden Buddha, and hidden salt mines adds an air of mystery to the Avery Island Museum and Gardens, making it a truly unique destination.We then take off to New Orleans, where we will settle into a hotel room that is close to the airport to facilitate early departures in the morning.
But no teases here! We will then drive you into the city for a special ghost tour and some free time in this wicked city. What a grand place to provide our gratitude with our traditional “Celebration Dinner”.DAY 5- 🧭 March 25th, 2024
